Tim called yesterday. His "shack-mate" has Skyper, so he was able to call for cheap. They are going into the interior today, and will celebrate the end of Ramadan with a feast on Monday before heading back to the city on Tuesday. So most likely no communication between now and then...
He's getting along famously with the goats.
He's hoping to go on a trek with camels, and is trusting the allergy he has to horses doesn't translate to an allergy to the one or two humped beasties.
He LOVES where he is and what he is doing.

Camels are much more closely related to deer and cows and goats than to horses (they're in a completely different Order of mammals). So hopefully their hair structure is different enough that it won't cause him any difficulties!
How great that he loves the experience - I hope it helps him clarify his vision for moving forward.
