Dumpster Day!!
Mr. Bob has been looking forward to this day for weeks!! Months? I'm not sure there is anything more satisfying to him than filling a HUGE dumpster with -- um -- junk. Trash. Leftovers. Garbage (of the solid kind...not the once a week waste kind). Well, ALMOST more satisfying.
OK -- we won't go there.
Today -- ta da -- DUMPSTER DAY!!
It arrived yesterday.
It is HUGE. I simply can't imagine how we are going to fill the whole thing. First thing, I suggest to neighbor Steve that he might want to put some of his stuff in it. To fill it, doncha know.
Bob suggests I take a look at the garage attic (second floor...)
Then look at the garage floor!
Boxes! There are BOXES! Hundreds of boxes. Empty. (Except for the ones that house millions of styrofoam "peanuts."). I spend the afternoon cutting boxes down to size (and cutting several fingers in the process).
Midafternoon, Steve comes over to inspect our progress and to offer some of his accumulation to help fill the massive dumpster. I tell him that I'm really sorry, but evidently we don't need his help at all....
Did I mention we still need to clean the garage bottom??? There is NO room for the cars.
But -- believe it or not -- the upstairs is CLEAN!!
This is the third dumpster since we moved here 26 years ago. We are hoping it is the last until we move....maybe in 4 or 5 years.
Meanwhile, there will be NO Dumpster Diving!!! As it is, we are "over the line" on the top, and will have to pound some things down tomorrow.
How on earth can we be over the top???

We only wish we could have participated in this adventure. I know that in Daddy's world, this is practically a holiday!
Jan, Jan, as one of my "senior" friends in Alabama used to say, "One of the advantages of getting older is that at least you can stay in the saddle longer" whatever that means!! ;o)
As for your cleaning out day...congratulations!!!
Wow! The before and after shots are amazing! I know that must feel so good.
I think I need a dumpster here in Charleston, WV. Gosh, Jan, after seeing your stuff, I think I could even invite you to my house and not be worried---you'd be right at home!

Hi Jan,
Just gotta say, I love reading your blog. Your writing style is very irreverent and just plain funny. Makes wish that I knew you IRL. Congrats on the new grandbaby...I love the photo of the baby in the mommy's shirt - I never thought of that! How convenient!
